The Month in Review - January 2008

I have decided that since I made some big goals for 2008, that I would set monthly mini-goals to help me stay on track and to keep me motivated. Every month I will review what I wanted to accomplish, what I did accomplish and what I will set forward to do within the next month.

So here is the goal review as far as January went.

~WEIGHT~

GOAL: Lose 10 lbs.

RESULT: Met!  I am down 13 lbs as of 1/30.

~SWIM~

GOAL: Swim 100 yards straight through.

RESULT: Met and then some.  I can actually swim 100 METERs straight through!

~RUN~

GOAL: Run 3 miles straight without breaking over my suggested HR band.

RESULT: Accomplished!  It took all month to lower the level that I run at, but I know that this is the right thing.  I am slower than last year for right now, but in 3-6 months I will be one speedy devil!  Well, speedy for me. :o)

~REVIEW~

I accomplished all of my mini-goals which is HUGE motivation for me!  :o)  SO what is next?  Let's take a look!

..~FEBRUARY GOALS~

~WEIGHT~

Loose 10lb additional (total of 20lb down)

~SWIM~

Swim 200 yards nonstop - stretch goal is 400 yards nonstop.

Time 15 minutes straight swimming and compare to tri results from 2007.

Be ready for the 3/8 triathlon!

~RUN~

Run a good stubble time 5K race to set benchmark for end of year (2/3),

Run a good solid 5 miles comfortably and not over HR.

Do a 30 minute TT.

~BIKE~

Consider buying the green and flowered Roo from Cheryl.  If it fits - the Roo will be mine!

Set up my bike fitting at Bikesport or Two Wheel Tango and order the darn thing if Roo is not a match for my long legs and short torso.

Get brakes fixed on Trek MTB and start to get ready for some serious MTB action in the spring. XTERRA anyone? It is going to be a killer!

OK so they are written.  I am excited and getting there, one month at a time!

What a brilliant idea. Why didn't I think of this :-)?

Congrats on meeting the mini-goals!!! Enjoy conquering month part deux goals!!!

P.S. Wes appreciated the motivational poster. Now that's improper support ;-)

Yes Congrats on reaching the monthly targets.

Next time you decide to show a "motivational" picture give us a warning that it may not be suitable for the work place.

Bikesport and two wheel tango are good shops, but you might also consider Fraser Bicycle and Fitness. http://fraserbicycle.com/
I have been buying bikes from them forever. It might be a little closer than dearborn or AA too, they are at 15 and utica.

Good luck on meeting your next months goals.

Great idea. What a great month for you.

Man, you are packing some serious heat.

No, DO NOT use Bikesport!

I also confirm the use of Fraser Bicycle and Fitness!!! I have bought or had built five bikes from them, and THEY know how to fit people to a bike. I just picked up my road race bike today from there, after they finished an overhaul and refit of the bike.

Bikesport is too condescending, if you are not buying a $5,000 bike. I have NEVER had a good experience at Bikesport, even to just buy gels. I will no longer step foot in that place or touch it with a ten-foot pole.

Chia - I am glad the poster inspired! :o)

Everyone - thank you for all the kind words! It is good knowing that if you work for something it can happen - you just actually have to do something to put yourself in motion towards that goal.

Motion... well motion is sort of fun.

DOug and Rocks - have wither of you hear of Americal Cycle and Fitness? They have like 5 locations around MI - Commerce, Sterling Heights, RO, etc. etc.

I swung by there last night and found a GREAT bike - they seemed really nice and offer full service and bike fitting.

They are kind of the K-Mart of local bike shops. Stick with Fraser or Two Wheel. Just don't use Bikesport, and do not let anyone who 'learned' to do bike fitting at Bikesport fit you! Trust me on this one.

Bikesport will fit you too small.
