Amazing how time flies when you are having fun. =)
After my freezing ride on the 9th I have had wonderful training weather pretty consistently. Now it is getting hotter, but that is OK with me. It means that Summer is nearly here!
The past two weeks have been 10 hour training weeks for me, which is a complete new level. I have really been enjoying the training and I have grown to enjoy my time out there as quality "me" time. Although, I do still enjoy training with a group.
This past weekend held the longest workout I have ever done and I felt great the whole day.
I swam ~1 mile, rode 50.5 miles and ran a 5k in crazy heat. My legs felt good and strong and I was never fatigued, even with a 7am start to my day. It was nice to have a good volume of training behind me and still have the rest of the day to enjoy home.
This week is going to be the lowest in volume I have had in a long time, only due to other obligations which have taken away most of my weekday trainings.
I should be able to get in 2 longer runs (5 mile+ and a 12 mile+), 2 days of biking (a 30 mile day and a 60 mile day), and a nice long OWS this week. I know that it is not optimal, but at least I can hit all of my long workouts.
Next week I really need to buckle down and hit the pool at lunch on the days that I can make it, Mondays and then Wednesdays or Thursdays. This will be in addition to the OWS time I aim for.
I am feeling confident in Welland and am looking forward to seeing how this all comes together. Mike has been so much more supportive this time around, and I feel like I have finally found a good balance in my life.
On the home front, now that is another story. We are getting a fence put in here in the next few weeks and also have some Central AC work that needs to be done (it is HOT!), and some roofing/gutter repairs.
Between work, home and training I have been one busy gal!
While I love training for the endurance races, I am actually glad that this will be the last year for the craziness for a while.
I am finallizing the racing plan for 2010 and this is what I am bouncing around with now:
June 13th, Motor City Olympic Triathlon
June 27th, Welland Half Iron Triathlon
July 7th, Motor City Mile OWS
August 28th, CRIM 10 miler
September 12th, Rev3 Cedar Point Half Iron Triathlon
October 17th, Detroit FreePress Half Marathon
December 5th, Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon
I will have a trip to China in the fall, and possibly a trip to Romania in early August, so I cannot really plan on many more races than this. If I will be around, then I would love to do Brooksie Way Half Marathon and Woodstock Half Marathon again.
I am thinking of doing the Goofy Challenge in 2011 just to do it. Hmmmm.... we shall see we shall see!
Well kids, off to run tonight and then a long weekend filled with gardening, home fun, and some swimming biking and running sprinkled in.
Have fun and be safe! HAPPY MEMORIAL WEEKEND!

Impressive list of events! Maybe I'll start swimming just to get out of the heat...
